That depends, it should typically take 4 - 5 hours to dry to the touch in full sun or less on a real hot day. If the driveway is shaded by trees that could increase the dry time considerably.
Once it is dry to the touch you can walk on it and move personal belonging back, However, we recommend keeping cars off for at least 24 hours.
When you approve your quote through our Jobber program, we get notified and we convert that quote into a job, we add you to the current month list - unless it is late in the month, then you will be added to the following months list. We will call the day before we plan on coming to be sure that works for you.
No problem! You can always say no, we never only offer one date for you. We frequent our normal seal coating areas Numerous times throughout the season. You always have the right to say no and we will call again the next time we are in the area.
We only use hot tar to fill cracks that are a minimum of 1/4 - 1/2 inch wide & deep or bigger. See our Blog tab for more details on driveway cracks. If you feel you do have cracks that fit the size requirements and it wasn't included in the quote, give the office a call. The crack fill is preformed by a separate crew. The seal coaters do not fill cracks. We have to schedule the crack fill crew to come before the seal coaters.
We are 100% dependent on the weather. If we schedule a few weeks worth of work and one day of day rain means we have to contact everyone to reschedule them. This is why we only schedule 1 day ahead. On Fridays we do schedule for Monday so if you require more than one day notice - just request to be done on a Monday. It is does however limit considerably the opportunities to be done. We have several times had months that it rained almost every Monday in that month.
This is by far the most asked question and a difficult one to answer. We have typically 3 seal trucks running daily, each truck does between 12 -14 driveways a day. We call as many people as we need to get the truck booked and then map the truck out to be the most efficient. Each driveway is going to be different. Some require longer time than others because they are bigger or need a lot of cleaning so it is difficult to estimate how long they will be at each location. We recommend moving vehicles the night before if you are able. The crews typically start around 7:30 AM so if you can't move the cars the night before move them early in the morning. They will not knock on doors to ask for the cars to be moved.
No you do not have to be there.
We will email the invoice if we have your email on file or the mail the invoice to you, we can also text the invoice. You can pay online or mail a check in. We do not have the crews collect payments.
We offer a 10% discount when you prepay by April 1st. Email notifications start in January. Give the office a call - we will send an updated quote for the season. You need to approve the quote to get the discounted invoice. This has to be Paid no later than April 1st. Any unpaid invoices will be deleted & quotes will have the discount removed.
If the driveway was sealed 4- 5 hours before it rained, most likely it is just fine. The rain only effects the sealer when the sealer is wet. Wet sealer can cause problems if rained on, it can splash and wash completely away. We will at no charge reseal the driveway. Customers are responsible for any other clean up.
If it rains before the scheduled seal coating, we will reschedule. We can not seal coat a wet driveway.
We typically get started sometime in May. Overnight & day times need to be above 50 degrees for the best results in the seal coat. We typically end seal coating Mid-October for the same reason - temps have fallen, leaves are falling, the days are shorter which leads to less warm temps during the day and the sealer just can't dry properly.
There are very few times you should ever pressure wash your driveway. It is not good for the asphalt. The time when pressure washing should be considered are if you have caked on mud that a simple garden hose can't get off. The driveway should never be washed on the day we are scheduled to arrive - we can not seal coat a wet driveway.
Coal tar sealer has been banned in New York State. We use an Asphalt Emulsion Sealer.
The industry recommends seal coating every other year. We recommend inspecting your driveway in the spring. If it still has a nice black finish from the previous year sealing, you can skip. If its fading you might want to have it done again.
